בדקה ה־51 מראדונה כבש את "יד האלוהים", שער שנוי במחלוקת שנכנס בעזרת ידו. אבל רק ארבע דקות לאחר מכן הוא כבש את מה שמכונה עד היום "שער המאה" — ריצה של כ־60 מטרים שבה עבר חמישה שחקנים אנגלים ואת השוער בדרך לשער. יש בזה מסר עמוק: העולם זוכר את הוויכוח, אבל מעריץ את המצוינות. גם בחיים, אנשים יכולים ליפול, לטעות או לעורר מחלוקת, אבל מה שמגדיר אותם בסוף הוא מה שהם עושים אחרי אותו רגע. מראדונה לא הסתתר מאחורי השער הראשון — הוא יצר רגע של גאונות שאף אחד לא הצליח לערער עליו. לפעמים התיקון החזק ביותר הוא לא הסבר, אלא מעשה גדול יותר.

Sometimes, it is not the world's most famous mistake that turns someone into a legend — but what they do immediately afterward.
In the 51st minute, Maradona scored the controversial "Hand of God" goal. Yet just four minutes later, he scored what is still known as the "Goal of the Century" — a run of about 60 meters, dribbling past five English players and the goalkeeper before scoring. In life, people may stumble, make mistakes, or become the center of debate, but what ultimately defines them is what they do next.
