In a swift response, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar delivered a special statement condemning the decision as “absurd” and the practice as “despicable.” He subsequently announced the following severe countermeasures:

- Closing the British Consulate in Jerusalem.
- Expelling British representatives from the international headquarters in Kiryat Gat.
- Halting British training programs for Palestinian forces in Ramallah.
- Banning the entry of 12 British officials and other UK citizens involved in antisemitic and anti-Israel activities.
